Veteran Comedian Nick Beaton Returns to Cape Breton for Special Taping at Louisbourg Playhouse May 10, 11
Cape Breton Comedy Festival is thrilled to announce our next the taping of Nick Beaton’s one hour comedy special, Geriatric Millennial, live at Louisbourg Playhouse on May 10 and 11. We are inviting everyone to come and be a part of Cape Breton comedy’s history, as Beaton is the first ever Cape Breton stand-up comedian to film an hour special.
“Filming an hour special is something I always wanted to do, but it always felt like something you had to wait for someone else to tell you that you can. It turns out you can just do it” said Nick Beaton, “Especially when you have a network of talented people in Cape Breton to make it happen.”
From a blue-collar background, Nick Beaton cuts through the BS of an overly bureaucratic society that takes itself way too seriously. Whether it’s done through his opinionated rants, hard-hitting jokes, or his disarming “every man” personality, Nick Beaton is a favourite wherever he performs. He has performed on 4 continents, 7 countries, and over 40 cities. His run at the Edinburgh Festival received glowing five star reviews, from both “Broadway Baby” and “Three Weeks,” the latter of which described him as having, “enviable confidence, timing, and manner of a comedian with decades of experience beyond his years.” Nick wrote for the hit show on CTV, Spun Out staring Dave Foley was a panellist on Match Game and was featured on CBC’s The Debaters. He has performed at Montreal’s International Just For Laughs Comedy Festival three times, as well as the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Hubcap Comedy Festival, the Sudbury Comedy Festival and the Icebreakers Comedy Festival. He has received numerous accolades for his comedy, including winning the 2007 Just For Laughs Toronto Home-grown Competition, and being nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards, including one for his comedy special, “Comedy Now!” that aired nationally in Canada.
The special will be produced in partnership with Spectra71 Films, a small boutique film production company based in Cape Breton with over twenty five years’ experience in the TV and film industry.
The Shows will start at 8:00PM each evening with doors opening at 7:00PM. Tickets for the events are $15 plus tax and fees and can be purchased at www.capebretoncomedyfest.com.
